  • Giants' Cesar Perdomo: Flops against Friars in first loss

Perdomo (0-1) took the loss Saturday, coughing up five runs on 10 hits and two walks over 4.2 innings as the Giants were downed 7-6 by the Padres. He struck out three.

After a scoreless first frame, Perdomo got tagged for at least one run in each inning he remained on the mound until finally getting chased after 74 pitches (48 strikes). With the Giants out of the playoff picture, one bad performance in his second career start probably isn't going to cost the 24-year-old southpaw his spot in the rotation as the team auditions players for 2027. Perdomo will take a 3.68 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB over 14.2 MLB innings into his next start, which is set to come on the road next weekend against the Dodgers.

  • Giants' Cesar Perdomo: Awarded second start

Perdomo is slated to start Saturday's game against the Padres in San Francisco.

The Giants will keep Perdomo around for a second turn through the rotation after he followed up a strong four-inning long-relief appearance in his MLB debut Sept. 1 by spinning six shutout innings in his first big-league start last Sunday against the Mets. Though Perdomo found success in his first two outings in the majors, he'll be difficult to rely upon after he underwhelmed over a larger sample of work in the minors this season. Prior to his recent call-up, the 24-year-old lefty turned in a 4.43 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 125:42 K:BB across 120 innings between Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Sacramento.

  • Giants' Cesar Perdomo: Set to start Sunday

Perdomo is listed as the Giants' probable starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Mets.

The left-hander received his first promotion to the big leagues Tuesday when rosters expanded to 28 players and made his debut later that day in Pittsburgh, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts over four relief innings. Perdomo, who posted a 5.10 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 36:20 K:BB across 47.2 frames in nine starts for Triple-A Sacramento, will now get a look in the major-league rotation, though it may end up being just a spot start.

  • Giants' Cesar Perdomo: Excellent in first start

Perdomo didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Mets, allowing three hits and a walk across six scoreless innings. He struck out four.

Perdomo was stellar in his first major-league start, as he needed just 83 pitches to make it through six scoreless innings. It was quite a performance for the 24-year-old southpaw, who posted a 5.10 ERA across 47.2 innings in nine starts with Triple-A Sacramento this season. While it may have been just a spot start for Perdomo, he certainly made a case Sunday for another look in San Francisco's rotation.

  • Giants' Cesar Perdomo: Promoted to big leagues

The Giants selected Perdomo from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Perdomo has started in nine games for Triple-A Sacramento in 2026. He has recorded a 5.10 ERA and 1.61 WHIP through 47.2 innings. He had a 3.98 ERA across 13 starts earlier in 2026 with Double-A Richmond. While the 24-year-old has started in all of his appearances in Triple-A, he may find some relief work in San Francisco. His selection comes with rosters expanding in September.
