  • White Sox's Austin Hays: First hits since return

Hays went 2-for-5 on Wednesday against the Angels.

Hays returned from the injured list Monday, though Wednesday marked his first start. He notched a pair of singles to record his first multi-hit game of the campaign. While he has been used primarily as a reserve option this season, Hays should see an uptick in playing time due to Everson Pereira (pectoral) now being sidelined.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Snags extra-inning win

Dominguez (2-3) picked up the win Wednesday, striking out one in a perfect 10th inning during a 3-2 victory over the Angels.

After the White Sox tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, Dominguez was called in for the top of the 10th and never even let the phantom runner advance from second base. The veteran righty then got rewarded when Colson Montgomery walked it off with a bases-loaded single. Dominguez has a 4.15 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB through 13 innings to begin the season and has converted seven of nine save chances.

  • White Sox's Erick Fedde: Delivers quality start Wednesday

Fedde didn't factor into the decision Wednesday in an extra-inning win over the Angels, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

The veteran right-hander put together his longest outing of the season, tossing 65 of 103 pitches for strikes en route to his second quality start, Despite that strong showing, Fedde left the mound staring at a 2-1 deficit after serving up solo shots to Mike Trout in the third inning and Vaughn Grissom in the seventh. The White Sox were able to rally against a patchwork Halos bullpen, however, preventing Fedde's record from falling to an undeserved 0-4. The 33-year-old will take a 3.24 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 22:11 K:BB through 33.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come on the road early next week in a rematch with the Angels.

  • White Sox's Tanner McDougal: Suffers forearm injury at Triple-A

McDougal was removed from his start Wednesday with Triple-A Charlotte after one inning due to right forearm tightness, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

McDougal needed only 13 pitches to complete a perfect opening frame, but he was injured while warming up before the second inning and was removed. The right-hander will undergo further testing before more is known about his condition. McDougal holds a 3.00 ERA and 27:13 K:BB over 24 innings in the early going at Charlotte. He had been knocking on the door for a promotion to the majors prior to suffering the injury.

  • White Sox's Jarred Kelenic: Back in majors with White Sox

The White Sox selected Kelenic's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Kelenic was batting .202 with a 28.8 percent strikeout rate at Charlotte, but he had been swinging a hot bat of late with five home runs across his last 10 contests. The 26-year-old will likely operate as a reserve outfielder for Chicago.

  • White Sox's Everson Pereira: Hits shelf with pec strain

The White Sox placed Pereira on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a right pectoral strain.

Pereira was labeled day-to-day after he exited Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Angels due to an injury that the White Sox initially referred to as a sore right shoulder, but follow-up tests revealed the pec strain. The White Sox are still in the process of evaluating Pereira and haven't offered up a clear timeline for his return, but he'll be out for at least the next week and a half after hitting the IL for the second time this season. The White Sox called up Jarred Kelenic from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move to replenish their depth in the outfield, but Austin Hays could end up serving as Pereira's primary replacement in the starting nine.

  • White Sox's Andrew Benintendi: On bench Wednesday

Benintendi is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

With the White Sox and Angels wrapping up their series with a day game after a night game and with a southpaw (Yusei Kikuchi) on the bump for the Halos, the left-handed-hitting Benintendi will be given the afternoon off. Benintendi went 2-for-7 with a double, a walk, three RBI and a run over the first two contests of the series.

  • White Sox's Everson Pereira: Sitting due to shoulder injury

Pereira (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

The White Sox are listing Pereira as day-to-day after he was pulled from Tuesday's 5-2 win due to a sore right shoulder, which he appeared to tweak on a swing in the fourth inning. Austin Hays replaced Pereira in right field Tuesday and will stick in the starting nine at designated hitter in Wednesday's series finale. With an off day on tap Thursday, the White Sox are hopeful that Pereira will be ready to move past the shoulder injury and return to the lineup during this weekend's series in San Diego.

  • White Sox's Drew Romo: Homers twice against Halos

Romo went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Angels.

After the White Sox DFA'd Reese McGuire last weekend, Romo was the one to get the call while Kyle Teel continues to rehab his hamstring. After going 0-for-3 in his first start Sunday, Romo took Jose Soriano deep for a two-run shot in the fourth Tuesday and later added a solo homer in the sixth against Brent Suter. They were the first two homers of Romo's career in his 22nd big-league contest.

  • White Sox's Seranthony Dominguez: Notches seventh save

Dominguez secured the save in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Angels, allowing just one walk with one strikeout in a hitless and scoreless ninth inning.

Dominguez struck out Zach Neto and walked Mike Trout before getting Vaughn Grissom to ground into a game-ending double play. Dominguez is now 7-for-9 in save chances this season and owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB across 12 innings. Walks remain an issue for the right-hander, and he's already served up three home runs after allowing five all of last season.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Goes deep against Soriano in win

Montgomery went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Angels.

Groundout machine Jose Soriano had allowed just one home run all season coming into Tuesday's contest, but Montgomery took him deep on a knuckle curve to lead off the bottom of the second inning. It snapped a five-game homerless drought for Montgomery, who had hit a big fly in each of the four contests prior to his recent mini outage. The lefty-hitting infielder is now slashing .236/.341/.509 with eight homers, 20 RBI, 13 runs scored, one stolen base and a 10:37 BB:K across 123 trips to the plate.

  • White Sox's Davis Martin: Seven strikeouts in fourth win

Martin (4-1) earned the win Tuesday against the Angels, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk with seven strikeouts across 5.2 innings.

The right-hander continues to dazzle for Chicago, as Martin has posted back-to-back seven-strikeout outings and wraps up his April having allowed just five earned runs across 32 innings to go along with a 27:6 K:BB. His 2.86 FIP suggests Martin's results are legit after he outdueled Jose Soriano on Tuesday. Martin is throwing his fastball less this season and has upped the usage on his sinker, slider and changeup. Martin is scheduled to again face the Angels on the road next week for his next start.

  • White Sox's Everson Pereira: Pulled with shoulder soreness

Pereira was removed from Tuesday's game against the Angels with right shoulder soreness.

The White Sox are viewing Pereira as day-to-day, which suggests that he isn't dealing with anything serious and may not need to miss many starts, if any. If the team decides to sit him down for a game or two, Austin Hays would likely be the next man up to start in right field.

  • White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Resting Tuesday

Meidroth is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Angels.

Until Tuesday, Meidroth had started in 11 consecutive games since sitting April 15. The infielder went 15-for-44 with a RBI, two doubles and five walks in that span. Sam Antonacci and Luisangel Acuna are starting in the middle infield for the White Sox on Tuesday.

  • White Sox's Edgar Quero: Sitting Tuesday

Quero is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Angels.

Quero is absent from the lineup for the second time in a three-game span. He went 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and a strikeout Monday. Drew Romo gets the start behind the plate Tuesday, batting eighth.
