Jobe (elbow) will return from the injured list during Detroit's weekend series against the Giants, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Jobe will claim one of the vacancies in Detroit's rotation created by Tarik Skubal's move to Los Angeles and Casey Mize's move to San Diego. Sidelined since June 2025 due to Tommy John surgery, Jobe was cleared to begin a rehab assignment July 7 and has since posted a 1.76 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB in 15.1 innings across five starts. He built up to 69 pitches during his last outing at High-A West Michigan, so he could still have a limit placed on his workload when he makes his season debut over the weekend.

For the second straight rehab outing, Jobe covered exactly four innings, though he was able to push his pitch count up to 69 (44 strikes) on Sunday after tossing 54 pitches in his previous start July 25. Through five minor-league appearances across stops with four different affiliates, Jobe now owns a 1.76 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB in 15.1 innings. The young right-hander is checking all the boxes as he works his way back from May 2025 Tommy John surgery, as he generated 10 whiffs and hit 100 mph on three differnt pitches Sunday. He'll likely reconvene with the Tigers early this week before his next step is decided, but Jobe will probably need only one more minor-league start, at most, before making his 2026 debut for the big club.

Jobe tossed 38 pitches (27 strikes) during the appearance, his second in the FCL after kicking off his rehab assignment last Tuesday. The flamethrowing righty could shift his assignment to a higher-level affiliate coming out of the All-Star break as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent last June. Pitching in a game for the first time since May 28, 2025, Jobe was eased back into action with a light workload coming off Tommy John surgery. He threw 32 pitches (24 strikes) en route to retiring four of the six batters he faced in the first appearance of what will likely be close to a month-long rehab assignment. Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of Jobe's rehab start was that he already seems to have recaptured his pre-surgery velocity; he topped out at 100.2 mph with his fastball, per MLB.com. In order to claim a spot in Detroit's rotation once he returns from the 60-day injured list, Jobe will need to show that he can maintain both velocity and command while he ups his pitch count during his subsequent minor-league outings.

Jobe has been conducting his rehab from last June's Tommy John surgery at the Tigers' facility in Lakeland, Fla., but he met up with the big club this week for its series versus Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field. He threw a lengthy bullpen session Tuesday in front of the Tigers' medical team and coaching staff, with Hinch noting afterward that the Detroit brass came away encouraged from the workout. Hinch said that Jobe has now completed about 10 or 11 bullpen sessions, setting the stage for him to take the next step forward in the rehab process by facing hitters.
