  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Strong in 10th win

Alcantara (10-4) allowed one run on six hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out eight over eight innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Saturday.

Alcantara was in workhorse mode, throwing 70 of 100 pitches for strikes. This was his fourth start of at least eight innings this season. He's been superb lately, winning seven straight starts while allowing 18 runs (16 earned) over his last 48.1 innings. Alcantara is at a 4.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 92:33 K:BB through 123.2 innings over 19 starts this season. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at home versus the Guardians.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Nabs victory despite poor control

Alcantara (9-4) earned the win over Colorado on Monday, allowing five runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out three batters over 5.2 innings.

Alcantara had a rough beginning to his outing, giving up five runs by the end of the third inning. However, he was able to keep the Rockies off the scoreboard for the remainder of his time in the game, and Miami's offense provided enough support to gift the right-hander the win. Despite earning the victory, Alcantara was far from sharp -- he threw only 55 of 96 pitches for strikes and served up five free passes, his second-highest total of the season. Nonetheless, he wrapped up June by going 6-0 over his six starts to push his record to 9-4 on the campaign. Among MLB hurlers, only Aaron Ashby (11) has more victories than Alcantara to this point.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Makes club history in win

Alcantara (8-4) earned the win against the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts over 6.2 innings.

Alcantara allowed a run in the second inning and cruised from there, logging his fifth straight quality-start victory in the process. Per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, he passed Ricky Nolasco to become the Marlins' all-time strikeout leader (1,002) in the seventh frame. The 30-year-old Alcantara will carry a 4.01 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 81:27 K:BB across 110 innings this season into a road matchup against the Rockies next week.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Plenty of support in win Wednesday

Alcantara (7-4) picked up the win in Wednesday's 12-4 romp over the Phillies, giving up four runs (two earned) on eight hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.

The veteran righty got tagged for two runs in each of the first two innings, with two errors and a balk contributing to the damage in the second frame, but Alcantara kept his focus and shut the door the rest of the way while while getting backed by 13 hits and five homers from Miami's bats. The quality start was Alcantara's 11th of the season and fourth straight, a stretch in which he's posted a 2.89 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 25:3 K:BB over 28 innings while winning all four outings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home early next week against the Rangers.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Sharp in sixth win

Alcantara (6-4) picked up the win Friday, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk over eight innings in an 8-3 victory over the Pirates. He struck out seven.

The right-hander reached 1,000 career strikeouts along the way, as Alcantara delivered his third straight quality start and 10th of the season on 102 pitches (70 strikes). Through his first three outings in June, he's produced a 2.86 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 19:2 K:BB over 22 innings, showing glimpses of his 2022 Cy Young form. Alcantara will look to keep rolling in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Philadelphia.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Fans seven in Sunday's win

Alcantara (5-4) earned the win against the Rays on Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out seven across seven innings.

It was another strong effort by Alcantara, with his lone blemish being an RBI single that he gave up to Yandy Diaz in the third inning. Alcantara tossed 58 strikes on 90 pitches while generating 11 whiffs, and his seven strikeouts matched a season high that he set against the White Sox on April 1. He's logged a quality start in back-to-back outings and now sits at a 4.33 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 89.1 innings this season. He's also up to 57 career wins with the Marlins, which is third-most in franchise history behind Ricky Nolasco (81) and southpaw Dontrelle Willis (68). Alcantara is slated to start next weekend on the road against the Pirates.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Bounces back vs. WSH

Alcantara (4-4) earned the win Monday against the Nationals after allowing three runs on seven hits across seven innings, striking out five.

This was far from Alcantara's best outing of the season, but it was a step in the right direction after giving up eight runs with a 4:1 K:BB across 5.2 innings against the Blue Jays last week. Alcantara has been wildly inconsistent of late, and even though he has three quality starts over his last five appearances, he also sports a 5.58 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP over that stretch, albeit with a 21:3 K:BB. Alcantara is scheduled to make his next start over the weekend at home against the Rays.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Dreadful in Toronto

Alcantara (3-4) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, allowing eight runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out four across 5.2 innings.

Alcantara gave up two runs over the first five innings of Tuesday's start and was brought back out for the sixth to secure his eighth quality start of the season. He gave up a solo home run to the first batter he faced in the frame, Yohendrick Pinango, and that turned out to be a sign of things to come for the right-hander. After getting the next two Blue Jays out, Alcantara proceeded to give up another five runs, four of which came on a grand slam from Jesus Sanchez. Alcantara struggled with his control, especially toward the tail end of his start as he hit four batters across the fifth and sixth frames. He has given up at least six earned runs in three of his last five starts, ballooning his ERA to 4.66 ERA across 75.1 innings. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, which is slated for next week on the road against the Nationals.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Shelled for six runs in loss

Alcantara (3-3) took the loss Thursday against Atlanta, allowing six runs on nine hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out three.

The Atlanta bats peppered Alcantara on Thursday, as the hurler was scored upon in four of his six frames. Although the right-hander has been a workhorse for the Marlins this year, covering at least six innings in nine of his 11 starts, he's already up to three outings with at least six runs allowed. Alcantara will be seeking some consistency his next time out in Toronto, where he'll bring a 4.00 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 48:20 K:BB across 69.2 frames.
