Rodon was making the second start of his minor-league rehab assignment after he surrendered three runs over 2.2 innings with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday. The southpaw was able to toss 58 total pitches, notching 41 strikes, and although it was against lesser competition, Rodon definitely looked more comfortable Thursday. The 33-year-old is without an official timeline for his return, but it seems as though he could be back during the first half of August if he continues to progress with no setbacks.

Rodon rested Sunday, but the southpaw is expected to resume playing catch Monday and will do throwing of some kind just about every day during the All-Star break. He'll likely need to complete multiple bullpen sessions before he advances to facing hitters and then embarks on a rehab assignment, so Rodon still has a few hurdles to clear in his recovery from left elbow inflammation prior to returning from the 15-day injured list. Rodon is without a definitive target date for a return but appears unlikely to make it back from the shelf before the end of July.

Rodon has turned in a 3.30 ERA and 52:26 K:BB over 46.1 innings covering nine starts for the Yankees this season.
